About Me

I received my Masters in Counselling Degree through City University of Seattle in Vancouver, British Columbia and am a Registered Clinical Counsellor through the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors (#17164).

I have had many learning and enhancing life experiences that add to the depth and breadth of how I work with individuals. I have been an educator in the area of adult education for over twenty years, working mostly with people from around the world assisting them in making successful adaptation while undergoing major life transitions. Additionally, I have worked in community settings counselling young, midlife and senior clients with concerns such as: childhood trauma, identity issues, relationship problems, anxiety, and depression. I am also a parent who understands the challenges, humiliations, joys, and deeply felt emotions that often come with the responsibility of raising children. I worked as group facilitator for single mothers for many years. My role was to encourage, support and motivate these mothers on their own unique journeys in parenthood. I am currently a facilitator of grief support groups, assisting folks dealing with the grief and loss that comes from losing a loved one.

My experience also includes living and working in Turkey and South Korea. Residing in these countries provided me with different cultural perspectives and ways of being in the world while also assisting me in gaining new ways of looking at my own culture.

I am a life long learner attending conferences, workshops, and constantly reading to keep myself informed and knowledgeable in the field. I find much joy in being a student and continually learning about the remarkable ways that human beings can heal.

In my leisure time, I love being outdoors in many of the beautiful spaces in and around the Lower Mainland. I do my best to take care of myself, so I can be present and engaged with my clients as well as my family & friends. I tend to best enjoy the times when I can engage in great belly laughs in good company.  My clients and those closest to me note that my characteristics include: a good sense of humour, observant, open, self-aware, wise, empathetic, responsible and caring.
